Lowlights:
-On P-day last week we had a mission-wide ban on our vehicles because of weather so we were trapped in our apartment all day :/
-We couldn't make it to Zone Conference in Victoria because of bad weather :(
-Because of the bad weather I was stuck outside my area for over 3 days.
-Found
out that the missionary department in Salt Lake City looks up to the
social media team here in the Canada Vancouver Mission for Social Media
content.... and Me and Elder Walcer manage the english social media
content....quite the role to live up to...
Ok, here are the stories:
Getting
stuck in a ditch: While we were stuck in Duncan, me and Elder Walcer
were heading back to the Duncan apartment for the night when Elder
Walcer thought he missed a turn and flipped a U-turn right into a ditch
and got us stuck. We tried to get out but no luck. But a man stopped
driving and helped us, he was super nice about it and we found out that
every night he goes out and helps people get unstuck.
After
we got out, me and Elder Walcer got talking with him, and it turns out
he has had a really hard life, and had felt like only bad luck follows
him. Like some of the stuff he was telling us was crazy! But he says he
goes out every night to help because its his duty to. He doesn't blame
God for his hard times, and is wanting his good deeds to come around.
The spirit led us to him. If Elder Walcer didn't think we missed a turn
and drove us right into a ditch, we wouldn't have crossed paths. It
really does show that God truly guides our lives.
Little
Caesars: While we were still in Duncan, we were driving to lunch when
we saw someone stuck in the snow off the side of the road. We parked and
pushed him out. He was very appreciative and gave us 20$ to say thank
you. We tried not to accept it but then he just ran off. I put it in my
wallet and didn't think too much of it for a few hours.
When
dinner rolled around, we found out the Duncan Apartment has absolutely
no food and we all had no missionary funds. So in order to have dinner,
we decided to use the 20$. We decided then to go to Little Caesars.
Once
we got there and we ordered, we got talking to the employee who helped
us. My district leader Elder Gibbs-Hector offered the employee and
little card that had a QR code to the Christ Child video. He bore a
short and amazing testimony to the employee.
The
employee gratefully took it and assured us he would offer it. He then
asked for an additional 4 cards to give to all his co-workers! So we
gave him 4 more and gave them to his co-workers! And they ALL seemed
excited to watch it! This week really showed how God guides us in our
lives with something as simple as getting dinner!
Christmas dinner with the Vannhorn family:
Christmas
started off kinda strange. I spent the morning talking to family, going
to church, and visiting members, but it kinda felt weird. It wasn't the
Christmas I was used to. The family gathering, great food, and lots of
fun!
However, that evening we were invited by
the Gow family to come to their extended family Christmas dinner! We
arrived in practically the middle of nowhere and there were SO many
people! Lots of food and kids yelling and playing everywhere. So we
spent the night eating great food, playing games with the kids, and
having great interactions with everyone! This part of Christmas is what I
remembered! It made Christmas feel 'normal'. It was a ton of fun and
they all loved the fudge we made haha.
Anyways,
that's my eventful and exciting week! I hope everyone is doing good and
staying safe! Merry Christmas! And next you'll hear from me it will be
2023! Wow thats so weird haha. So happy New Year as well!
-Elder Biesinger
P.S
When members passively tell you that and your companion stink, so they
give you deodorant and shampoo for your Christmas present🤣
